Hi,
I had Radio Frequency Ablation done this morning to cure
SVTParoxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (psvt). Well, the doctor (great guy) said he found the problem and corrected the electrical short. I was told by one of the nurses in the
recoveryRecovery position - series room that I went into AFib two times and had to have
cardioversion. Is this
normalNormal saline flush for this procedure? I spoke briefly with the doctor and he said it probably won't happen on its own. Do you think there is a good chance it could happen on its own now? It never has. I was "gone to the world" during most of this procedure. I think I felt when the paddles were used because something hurt like the dickens.
It is very sore on the right side of my chest on partially my right breast. YIKES, will this last for a while? Also, how long should the
numbnessNumbness and tingling in my
groinGroin lump
Groin pain
Groin stretch
Jock itch
Swollen lymph nodes in the groin vein be? I guess they had to give me a double dose of that too.
The good news is he said he fixed my arrhythmia. The bad news is my heart is sensitive to Adrenalin, so I have to stay on beta-blockers (25 mg Tenormin per day) for one month and he will try to ween me off them at that time. Based on your knowledge and experience, does this sound like a successful Ablation? I am a little concerned about the AFib part. Is that life-threatening?
Thanks for your time!
Denise
Dear Denise :
It sounds like the procedure was successful. The afib will probably not recur. If it did, medications could be used to treat it. The soreness in the chest should go away in a couple of days. The numbness in the groin should be gone within a day.
