After quadruple bypass § AAA/renal bypass

by trella, Apr 25, 2004 12:00AM
I am a 52 yo male.  Had heart bypass 10/02. BP remained hi.  Had angioplasty to see if kidney arteries blocked.  They were & an aortic anuerysm was detected.  Had open surgery to repair anuerysm & do renal bypass at same time.  Am currently taking:
Tiazac, 360 mg, am
Clonidine, 2.0 mg, am & pm
Lorazepam, .5 mg, am & pm
Protonix, 40 mg, am
Diovan/HCT, 160/25 mg am
Plavix, 75 mg, am
Aspirin, 81 mg, pm
Toprol XL, 100 mg, pm
Lipitor, 160 mg, pm
Before AAA/renal bypass, was taking Diovan, Toprol, Aspirin & lipitor.  Had BP under control.  All other meds added since AAA/renal bypass.  Reason - BP went way high, pain in abdomen daily, pain in chest daily (gets worse as day progresses), several trips to ER since - either for BP or chest pain.  Had additional angioplasty - revealed on artery spasmed shut - had stent put in (3/04).  Did receive relief from chest & stomach pain for 4 - 5 days straight when given 2000 mg of pencillin w/ 500 mg taken for 24 hrs after when had teeth work done.  Docs tell me can't find reason for pain.  Any suggestions?

trella,

Thanks for the post.

This is a complex problem.  The one thing that is clear is that you have diffuse arterial disease, so any pain that you have could be from progression of the arterial disease.  I would consider seeking an additional opinion at a large center.

It's hard for me to put the relief with penicillin together with the rest of the story.

Best of luck.
