After the Ablation

After the Ablation

I had an ablaition on Dec.1 2012 and it went well. I had very little to no discomfort and it was over before I knew it. I woke up feeling good and hungry. Now, after a week or so... i started having uncomfortable tighting of the chest and mild pain. I went to the doctors and they prescribed a holter monitor. After reading some info from the american heart assoc. I learned that it takes about 3 months before you start to feel better. My question is if anyone had an Ablaition for SVT and are over the three month period, How are you feeling and what were some of the things you went through? I still kinda feel like at two months I should be further along.

After an ablation for SVT, patients can have chest discomfort for a few days to a week. This is usually worst in the 48 hours or so after the ablation and it is unusual for it to develop after a week. It is certainly important to be seen by your doctor, preferably the doctor who performed the procedure, and I'm glad you have done this. In addition to checking for complications of the ablation procedure itself, it is also important to consider other, unrelated causes for your symptoms.
The rate of recurrence of SVT after an ablation is typically in the range of 5%.
