Alcohal

Alcohal

My father has been diagnosed with Alcohal (alcohol) Cardiomyopathy. He was diagnosed about five years ago. He stayed off all forms of alcohal (alcohol) for about three years. In the past 18 months he began to drink a few glasses of wine at night. We have tryed to convince him not to do this however he is stoic, won't discuss it and feels it is not a problem. He stayes loyal and only has a glass or two of wine (and only wine). Could this hurt him? If so why? He doesn't show and physical signes of ailment. How could I learn more about this?

ear Bob,

As I have said before in this forum I would recommend someone diagnosed with alcoholic cardiomyopathy to abstain from all alcohol.  There is a chance of significantly worsening the current condition if he continues to drink.  However, only he can make this decision and no one else can.
