Alcohol Induced Varient Angina

by lcjo, Jan 07, 2009 06:52PM
Hi my name is Lisa, i am a 25 yr old female, the past few years i have been having chest pains only when i drink alcohol (it has happened approx 6 times in the last 4 yrs but twice in the last 5 months) its not every time i drink and the type of alcohol varies, im not a heavy drinker, i maybe consume 3 drinks per month.  It can occur within the first few mouthfuls of alcohol or after i have had 2 drinks.  It is a pressure that starts in my chest and raidates down both arms, although more predominant in my left and sometimes to my left shoulder. I have always discounted it thinking maybe it was heartburn however i am able to eat spicy and acidic foods with no problem and it definatly is a pressure not a burning sensation.  It usually lasts approximatly 10 minutes and i have found it goes away when i lay down. I recently had an ECG done NOT during an "episode" and it came back normal, but i have not gone to a dr about it.  I have been doing some reading online and was wondering if it could be Alcohol Induced Varient Angina.
