The interactions between
coumadin and alcohol are complex. Depending on the amount and frequency of alcohol intake, the net result can be either a potentiation or weakening of the effect of
coumadin. In particular, binge drinking or regular consumption of moderate amounts of alcohol can be dangerous for people on coumadin. While it is safest to avoid alcohol, I know of several patients who have a drink occasionally without problems. The other medications you take are not a particular problem in combination with alcohol.
