Alternate therapies for constrictive pericarditis

My huband was diagnosed.  He is currently being treated with colchicine, 650 mg aspirin 4X daily, in addition to his other cardiac meds (Plavix, Simvastatin, Metoprolol).

Dr feels he will need pericardiectomy ifcurrent treatment is not effective.

Are there any alternate treatments that can treat the pericardium without surgical removal once there is scarring?  Patient is 57 year old male, has suffered one heart attack, has 3 stents that have been inserted over last 5 years.  Cause of pericarditis is thought to be a strep infection earlier in the year.

I appreciate any reference material or resources that you can cite.

Thank you,
Ann Marie
