Am I too young for this?

I work in a high stress job, I have two kids, I am going to be 27 in a couple days and I am pretty healthy.  So to me this is scary.  Usually I can contribute chest pain to my asthma, having it for years I have always known when an attack was going to happen.

Well last night about 1 am I had gone into the living room, which has tile floors and it was pretty cold, to get my daughter something off the tv.  She was right behind me as I reached up suddenly it felt like someone reached into my chest and grabbed my heart and squeezed it.  There was no air, no heart beat, no voice, I just felt like everything was going in slow motion.   After about 20 seconds it stopped, I thought maybe it had been a bad muscle spasm, but when it occurred again less then a minute later, lasting much longer, almost 2 minutes the second time I became scared. Now it's happened again, twice today, though much milder then before but I feel physically exhausted, I sweat like crazy, and my stomach burns while it happens.

I also feel dumb for posting this considering my age, I feel way to young to be going through this.  I also have normal blood pressure and no history of heart problems.  I know there is a long history in my family of heart disease, my mom has it as well.

I keep taking my inhaler regularly. But it seems to be happening when I am not doing anything.   This horrible pressure keeps coming back, squeezing is more like it.  I plan on calling my doctor tomorrow morning to get an appointment, but I feel confident he will say it's nothing right?

I would go to your hospital and have a thorough check up. For all you know, this could have been your warning and you want to make sure one way or the other. Cardiologists have a saying "time is muscle", so why wait. It has been more than 12 hours since your pains and so this is ideal for a troponin level blood test. I had similar things to you and I waited three days thinking it was my stomach. They told me that one more attack would have been my last.

Wrong!  Heart attack symptoms vary from person to person, and are quite different from what you see on TV.  With my first heart attack it was a burning ache that started in the center of my chest and radiated to the jaw and both arms. I had sweating and nausea with it.  And the pain was off and on.  Come & go type pain.  This all started on a Friday morning.  By Monday evening I wasn't feeling right.  So I went to the ER.  Am imposition I thought, but I needed to know.  The EKG was normal and I didn't display any shortness of breath so it was a shock to be told I was having a heart attack.  The echo and cardiac enzymes proved that.  An imposition indeed, but if it's not a heart attack, you will have acheived a sense of relief.  Take care and keep us posted, Ally

I believe you should go to the ER and get cardac enzyme blood testing to see if you suffered a heart attack.  They will want to run an EKG as well, though I've read they are not ALWAYS an accurate indicator that something's wrong. Heart attacks sometimes present like heartburn in women.  Young people can still suffer from heart attack & since you had chest pain last over a minute the second time, that is especially troubling, along with the breathing problem, sweating & fatigue.  Please go to the emergency room now!

do you suffer from anxiety this can cause this, i suffer from this and it sometimes i feel like someones sitting on my chest, you may have just pulled a muscle from reaching to grab something,id go to the doctors to get checked, my boyfriend had a very bad pain in centre of chest and couldnt breath properly so i took him doctors they said his heart was fine it turned out to be indegestion and slept funny, people who, sometimes a virus can cause you to get breathless, stomach burning sensation could be a rush of adrenaline, if you forget about it will go, but hopefully everything will be fine with the doctor, let e know howyou get on
