Angiogram and pain

I had an angiogram done on 2/18/09.  I was told I would be put to sleep but was not.  So I felt everything.  The pressue put on my groin after was extremely painful!   I had to stay in the hospital overnight because after they took the cath out my blood pressure dropped.  I went home in dire pain.  Today is the 17th and while I still have a bit of pain in my groin area, the REAL pain is when I have a BM or I urinate.  Is this unusual?

I believe you are saying that the pain occured when they closed the entry site six or seven hours after the procedure?  That can be painful, at least in my experience, actually quite painful, but certainly something most people can handle. I've had a number of angiograms, some are painless, some hurt, but it goes away.   Is there swelling, bleeding, or as kenkeith mentioned, do you have a fever?  If so, I'd sure be contacting your doctor.
I've noticed that the better I have been at keeping my leg still afterwards, the easier it is to close the site.
Keep up informed.

Occassionally, there are problems associated with entry site (groan).
From the symptoms expressed, the medical problem could be due to an infection.  Do you have a fever?

Thank you.  Actually the procedure was done on the 11th.  Anyway I have a call into my doctor.  We shall see.  I was not at all happy with his lack of sympathy or giving me anything for pain.

You should call your doctor.  I know many, many people who have had angiograms and none of them had any problems afterwards with BM or urinating.
