Angiogram?

by Outdoorsy, Sep 17, 2001 12:00AM
What is the difference between a Right/Left Heart Cath. test and an Angiogram.  I know that a Right Heart Cath test can tell you if you have Pulmonary Hypertension or not.  Can an Angiogram be used to diagnose PH too?

Dear outdoor,

A right heart cath measures pressures and is used for people with symptoms of heart failure or pulmonary hypertension.  The access is through the venous system. A left heart cath is the same as an angiogram and looks for blockages in the coronary arteries.  The access is through the arterial system.

Can one detect Pulmonary Hypertension with an Angiogram?

by sheryl, Nov 05, 2001 12:00AM
Hi all...had angiogram; showed 60% blockage in one artery.  I'm told this is not too bad and requires no treatment.  Does anyone know at what percentage they do treatment?  Thank you.
