Angioplastry vs CABG

Angioplastry vs CABG

My father (53 years, diabetic, smoker and obese) has recently complained of chest pain.As I understand (From the Advise of 3-4 doctors here in India and reading on internet), there are two options as a remedy:

(1) Angioplasty with Drug coated stents
(2) CABG

I am getting mixed opinions here from the doctors . I would like to know which procedure is best for profile (53 years, diabetic, smoker and obese). Iam putting the details of the angiogram report for your reference:

CORONARY ANGIOGRAPHIC DATA:
LMCA         : Normal
LAD            : Type III vessel & Proximal LAD-99% Lesion before DI
                    30% Lesion in Mid LAD
                    Mild plaquing in Distal LAD
Diagonals    : DI-Large Branch-Normal
LCX            : Non-dorminant & 80% lesion in distal LCX
OMs           : OM1 & OM2 - normal
RCA           : Dorminant & Ostial RCA -60% lesion
Diffuse plaquing in proximal & mid RCA
PDA           : /PLVB -Normal

CATH DIAGNOSIS:
CAD-Triple vessel disease(LAD- 99%,LCX- 80%,RCA- 60%)
I really appreciate the time you have taken to help me out. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

With the diabetes, there is a chance of not healing from a bypass surgery.  We had a friend that died after a bypass surgery where his heart swelled out of his chest and did not go down. He was removed from life support after three days.  Angioplasty is less invasive and with coated stents there is less of a chance of infection.  Usually, the person is kept in the hospital overnight after the procedure and the medication is adjusted.  If the patient is not having problems with medication, they can be released from the hospital.  It is good for the hospital to monitor the patient to make sure that they do not have any adverse reactions to the medicine.  Usually, the patient is placed on Plavix for at least 6 months to a year.  Sometimes doctors want the patient to continue with Plavix for the rest of their life.  Plavix helps with the blood clots and works like aspirin.  The LAD at 99% definitely needs to be stented and the LCX at 80% should also be stented.  The RCA at 60% could be stented as long as the procedure is being done.  It would be the doctors call.  Part of the reason that people get blockage in their arteries is due to inflammation in the arteries.  Aspirin helps reduce the inflammation and can help reduce the chances of further buildup in the arteries.  Diabetes, smoker and obese puts him at higher risk for bypass surgery CABG.  I know many people who have been helped by stents.
