My Nephew was diagnosed with this, I would like a laymans definition of what it is and where to best get it treated

Dear John,
Normally the venous return from the lungs goes to the right atrium. In some cases this may go the the left atrium and depending on what other conditions exist may cause a shunt or the mixing of oygenated blood with deoxygenated blood.
If this needs to be treated, the best place is to consult a pediatric cardiac surgeon who specialized in congenital heart disease.
