Vibrations inside the chest...
I get them too. They are most easily noticed upon sudden movement after being still for a while (a perfectPerfect choice example would be getting up at night, to return to the bed and feel them going for 10-15 min). The location would be dead center, my best guess is behind the heart, although they feel like the heart is shaking. They can present as very regularRegular insulin pulsations (200-300 bpm), or irregular thumps. If you monitor your pulse you should find that they are not assocated with any arrhythmia (although an occassional skip of a normal beat could result in a very similar sensation). You should also be able to generate these vibes by sudden physical activity (like jogging for a minute, then stoping to see if they are there).
If all this sounds familiar, then like your doctor says, it's a mystery...however, after scouring the literature and talking about these symptoms to many cardiologists, the presumption is that we are feeling the vibrations which emanate from a focus or foci. Foci are generally isolated islands of cardiac muscle that are electically active. They react to surges of adrenaline and, like normal muscles, will chug away with vigor. For some reason, some folks are wired in such a way as to pick up signals from these critters and give you the sensation that something is twittering in your chest. As far as I know, there is no big medical issue here, just a troublesome vibe.
