Anyone have thse weird palps?

Today I got a few skipped beats followed by a string of rapid harder beats, sort of felt like my heart was sputtering, then a few more skipped beats.  I know that I have pacs and pvs b/c they were documented on a holter monitor, but I am not used to these weird combinations of beats right in a row.  What is going on?

Hi, I am 35 & have been experiencing palpitations, chest pain on & off, fatigue and shortness of breath at times which is making me very uncomfortable!  After 24 hours in the hospital I was told I have benign PAC's that everyone has but doesn't feel. I was happy all was good but continue to be very uncomfortable, even to the extent of having crushing chest pain yesturday for about 2 min. Very scary. I am pushing myself to get back to normal living but find I have little patience & more anxiety as my heart gives me such an uneasy feeling. Before this started 6 days ago I was not under stress, drank 1 cup of coffee a day and don't smoke. What else can I do to feel better!!!!??????

Since I've been tested to the end of the earth and back, do you think I need to have another holter since I didn't have these particular sensations while wearing it?  My mom has had ectopics for 20 years and she has had the same clusters that I have had.  I am feeling kind of tested out if you know what I mean and I would rather just skip any more unless I start getting dizziness or faint.

Some of my wierdest feeling palpitations have been called "couplets", which is kind of like a PAC on top of a PAC, two in a row.  Still totally benign.  That can feel incredibly odd.  Also, I get bursts of SVT (supraventricular tachycardia) which can feel like that, but mostly that just feels like an extra beat followed by a super fast heart rate.  Stress and hormones are great triggers.

I would guess you're probably having the usual PACs if that's what they saw on your Holter.  If in doubt, or if you begin feeling bad with them (like you become short of breath or feel as if you're going to pass out when this happens) see your doctor.  Otherwise, try to reduce your stress and worry.

Hello.  I am here today.  I had a funky night last night.  I had a dream that I was at an iceskating rink with my girlfriend and our kids and I started getting really hard skips.  I woke up and, sure enough, I was really having them.  I had to get out of bed and walk around to get it to calm down.  It really sucked.  How you doing today?

i also have had those symptoms, i think that you get the sensation in your head becouse of what the heart is doing, does that make any sense? you dont really feel much in the chest either.

hi,
had areally weird day today. got NO missed beats! well thats what i think, i definitely didn't feel the pause and thumping/fluttering feeling today. Instead i've been having totally weird and new symptoms. I have been feling a weird sinking feeling followed by a really really bad dizzy feeling in my head. it was like a missed beat but not in my chest in my head instead?!! there was not usual thump or flutter in my chest. 3 times i felt i was going to pass out. does it sound like its related to the heart or is it just simply dizzy spells from this cold that i have at the moment??

Good to hear you are around!  I thought maybe you had stopped the palps and not coming to the website anymore!  I just thought "the lucky dog"!  I have had a not too bad day.  Two skips but still panicky.  I am off work this week as well so I think I will make a doc appt and tell her I want to try another SSRI as my New Year's resolution is to stop thinking about these!  So far it hasn't quite worked......

Very good post Cuaco.  Kinda puts things into perspective.  My New Year's resolution is to try to make myself obsessing about these things.

Yup I know we should consider outselves lucky but the only way I could consider myself lucky is be rid of these things completely.  We sound like we are exactly in the same boat and freak out at every bump and thump we get!  We will have to keep each other posted on what docs say.  I swear I am going to try to get Zoloft this week to try to stop my obsessing.  If they can't fix my heart then maybe they can fix my head.  I couldn't even imagine getting thousands a day.  I would definately be in a nut house.  The amount I have just about sends me to the nut house!

i also get those, in fact have been getting them ALOT for the past 4 or 5 days, along with palps that hurt somewhat..i have been on pins and needles over it...these things seem to change, it,s like just when you start to get "used" them, they take on whole new sensations, my cardio just increased my doseage of verapamil to 360 mg and they've pretty much gone away for the time being.

Don't panic!!  You are fine, and yes it is true that adrenaline triggers palpitations, I have been exactly your situation and at times of extreme panic and extreme fear my heart has behaved perfectly normally, just speeding up to cope with the situation at hand. (I drive carriage horses and believe me things can go horribly wrong with all the modern traffic on the road, just the other day my lead horses spooked (I was driving 4 at the time) and I nearly swerved into oncoming traffic- aaarggghhh!- not a blip from my heart, just a healthy pounding in response to the stress and fear of pulling them up and in out of danger (it was a close thing :-o !).  However the next day my body was on high alert and threw hundreds/ thousands.  I also have had runs as you describe when 'I' felt perfectly relaxed and happy, but my body was still flushed with the stress hormones that I had produced in it earlier on AND over a long period of time obsessing, please remember that it takes time for a body to be quiet (and EVEN a healthy quiet body will STILL have heart blips and wobbles)- anxious thinking sets the body on high alert and it does take some time to come down from that position, even when you think 'you' are relaxed the stress hormones are still circulating and so funny beats are liable to be produced. Keep the faith and remember
'though life is full of froth and bubble,
two things remain set in stone,
kindness in another's trouble,
and COURAGE in you own'
You will be (and are) fine :0) I have had 16 years of this and am still alive and kicking ( not to mention my horses!{kicking me, ha ha])

I WISH! I haven't had a palp free day in 8 months! I had a few today, maybe around 5 or 6.  I think we gotta try to realize how lucky we are compared to most people on here.  I read that some of these poor folks have hundreds or thousands a day.  I guess I am a whimp.  Even one makes me sick at my stomach.  And if I get a few in a row, I feel like checking myself into the nut house!
Hope you have a good and restful night.  I'm gonna go to bed now.  Hope to talk to you tomorrow.

My god it is a good thing you caught your baby!  I can see that would send you for a loop!  I know when something happens unexpectly and I panic my heart just goes fast as well and doesn't skip until I think about it!

The sensation you say is when you have a PVC and your heart kinda plays catch-up and does a few quick ones.  I get that all the time and hate it.  I get the rumbling sensation as well and they have seen it on a holter and say it is just a bit of irregularity and don't worry.  I still worry though!

Anytime you are in panic mode just come and post here and there will be someone who can talk you down.  It works for me!  You are just in a very stressful time in your life I think and I do think once your life gets back on track that your heart will as well.  I know that when I stopped panicing for a couple of years when I started my celexa I was so much better and would actually think it at the end and think to myself "wow I didn't even think once about my heart today".  I long for those days as well!  Have a good new year tonight and I am sure we will talk again tomorrow.....

Wow, I hope you are right that in a year this will be a distant memory.  All my docs say they are driven by anxiety and adrenaline, but I doubt it because today I turned around just in time to see my baby go off of the top step.  I screamed at the top of my lungs and lunged to grab him (I got him by the third step) and my heart was FLYING and I was shaking and my heart behaved perfectly.  Also, in the summer my five year old upset a bees nest and got swarmed and I jumped up screaming and tearing after him and ripping his clothes off and again my heart behaved perfectly.  My craziest stuff tends to happen while I am out trying to shop! Do you know what that weird combination of beats happens to be?  It kind of felt like two pvcs in a row, followed by some sort of tachycardia, followed by a few more pvcs.  I felt like a car engine sputtering and stalling then I revved back up again PRAISE GOD! I long for the days of a normal pvc and pac with no weird stuff following it!

Not to worry Finetillthree!  I got the same thing and I am still here to type my message.  I know it is horrible.  I couldn't even go out to enjoy New Years because I am panic stricken.  I get the same feeling as you do.  I know you had said you have three little ones and are separated right now so I can only say "you are my hero" and it is no damn wonder you get palps!  I couldn't even imagine how hard it must be for you with three little ones (under six no less!) and being on your own.  I'll bet with time yours will subside as with your case I can really see the palps would be strictly panic driven with the way your life is right now.  I can guarantee within a year you won't even be thinking about this forum and you will be well on your way to a great recovery.  I can guarantee it!
