Aorta repair

On November 5th 2008 my Aorta dissected in 2 places. Causing tons of blood clots spreading  throughout my body shutting down Limbs and vital organs like my kidney's. The clots caused my right leg to go numb with a possibility of losing that limb.  The doctors said I have a 50% chance of surviving the surgery and more than likely I might be a vegetable from all the strokes to my brain I was having. I eventually agreed to have the surgery which caused them to open my chest. I had been internally bleeding and the day of the surgery I had lost more than half of my blood in my body. After the surgery my heart stopped beating which caused them to jump start my heart again using the shock paddles. The Doctor that performed my surgery was named Dr. Allan Cook and I honestly believe he saved my life that day. I just wanted to tell my story because if anyone out there has high blood pressure, please get treatment for it. My untreated high blood pressure cause my aorta to dissect.

my aorta dissected in 2 places with a total length of 15 inches. My BP was 250 over 130 which is the reason my aorta dissected in the first place.

Thanks for sharing.  How large was the aneurysm and how high was your BP?  Yes, indeed a ruptured aorta is life threatening with the clots and loss of blood!
