Aortic Aneurysm and Aortic Insufficiency

by LeeSmith, Aug 01, 2009 08:31AM
I have an enlarged ascending aorta (4.2 cm AP x 4.4 cm transverse, growing slowly) and enlarged aortic root (4.9 cm, stable). Aortic regurgitation mild to moderate. LVEF = 60 - 65%. Aortic arch normal. Descending aorta normal.
Medications: Metoprolol (25 mg BID), Norvasc (5 mg QD), Lipitor (40 mg QD HS), Aspirin (81 mg BID), and pharmaceutical-grade fish oil (DHA + EPA = 3,000 mg QD).
What is best imaging technology to monitor progression of disease (CTA, MRA, echocardiogram)? What is recommended testing interval?
Male, age 67. Diagnosed 2004. Annual CTA stable until this year. Asymptomatic. Bloop Pressure 110/65.
