Aortic Stenosis

by William, Dec 20, 2000 12:00AM
I was disognised with aortic stenosis about 4 years ago.I am a 42 year old male in realitivley good shape however my condition verys from time to time with the dissyness and black outs blurred vision.I was curious to know if my work environment was a contributing factor.
I occasionally come in contact with gasey environments ie; H2S, menthol merecaptians, turpintine. To name a few of the gasses present at my work place. Do some of this gases cause problems with your blood pressure and does that accellerate my condititon.
thank you for any feed back in this area

None of the factors you mentioned would affect your aortic stenosis, and would not cause it to accelerate. However, if the symptoms you describe are indeed due to aortic stenosis (they certainly could be), you should be evaluated for possible valve replacement surgery.

Wow, amazing. I had never put together the possibility that the refinery that my company works for possibly accelerating the AS I was diagnosed with as a baby.

William,
I am 27 and had the Ross Procedure done at Cleveland Clinic by Dr. Gustov Pettersen August 8, 2000. I say that to tell you that, in the event that your doc begins to tell you that you need AVR. The worst part of the whole process is the waiting form the time your told you need Open heart to the actual surgery. Your mind will make you think of all kinds of things that will make it a dredfull wait. BUT, don't let that happen. TRUST ME, the procedure is not near what you may think it is.
There is a web page designed for support:
