Aortic stenosis and symptoms

I am 34 years old and I was diagnosed last year with aortic regurgitation. Three months ago I got the flu and I haven't been the same since. Before I got the flu, I worked out five hours a week swimming and on my nordictrack. Now I can't walk three blocks or scrub my floor without chest pressure which lasts for hours. This pressure is in conjunction with a strange cough. I also get dizzy when I sing in church or read aloud to my children and I have a low grade temperature (99º-100ºF). I had both a TEE done and a cardiac catherization, which only showed mild to moderate regurgitation and stenosis. My blood cultures came back negative as well. Is it reasonable to slow down my life and ignore my symptoms because the data shows that I am not in immediate need of valve replacement and I don't have endocarditis? Should I get a second opinion?

Reading your letter, I initially was going to suggest that you be tested for endocarditis, but it sounds like this has already been done. The symptoms sound like they are due to the valve, but all the data dos not add up. A second opinion would be reasonable. Either some of the data is wrong, or your symptoms are not due to your heart.
