Aortic stenosis valve replacement

Aortic stenosis valve replacement

My 40 year old husband had his aortic valve replaced with a homograft 10 years ago.  Now he needs the valve replaced again.  In addition it appears there is calcification on the aorta.  My question is:  where would you recommend going for this 2nd valve replacement and aorta concern?

I would absolutely recommend coming to the cleveland clinic for a re-operation. These are far more complicated than the original surgery and you may need the expertise of a surgeon comfortable not only in replacing the valve but also the ascending aorta if needed.

Thank you for this information.  We are in the Atlanta, GA area, if we could not get to Ohio, could you recommend a surgeon / hospital in this area?  Also, at this point would you recommend a tissue or mechanical valve to replace the homograft (that is only 10 years old).

Thanks so much!
