Appropriate activities

My husband is 60, diagnosed with enlarged heart due to a virus, EJ fraction 30. Dr. has said use common sense about physical activity levels.  My husband feels that if nothing happens to him while lifting, out in the heat, etc., then the activity is fine.  Is this true, but does this still make him worse over time by overexerting?

Your husband's doctor is most likely correct. physical actvity, within reason, will likely not cause any harm to patients with a decreased ejection fraction or systolic heart failure. In fact, physical activity and conditioning might be helpful in reducing the symptoms of heart failure. Activity is encouraged and will have no long term harmful effects.
