Are my bypass grafts closed

Hi, I had a double bypass in May 2011, three months ago and in the past two weeks i am getting very intense chest pain like i had before the surgery. I am having an angiogram in 5 days time and i am worried as they cannot put stents in because i am on Warfarin (Comadum} and they cannot give me another blood thinner for the platlets as they do when they put in stents.
I have just turned 60.

I may be wrong, but I think if they can do an angiogram, I think they can insert stents.  I'm sure they have taken you off Warfarin.  I had to have a major surgery for a bowel obstruction while taking another blood thinner (Plavix) and they were prepared for and dealt with that problem.  If I were you, I'd pump the doctor for more information.  You have very valid concerns.  Keep us informed.

It COULD be that one of your bypass conduits has closed, but I assume you have at least ONE artery for a graft, from your chest. It is usual to use one artery and one vein. Your bypass conduits may have formed a blockage. It really would be total guess work which is why you need that angiogram.
You are correct about Warfarin without taking other antiplatelet meds like plavix and aspirin. Warfarin does seem to promote clots in stents in a matter of a few weeks.
Why dont you ask your cardiologist if they can use a drug eluting balloon to open any blockages without using stents. These have been having a lot of success but I don't know if the same implications apply due to the drug on the balloon. However, it's worth asking.
