Are there any other tests I should have?

by Roy, Sep 17, 1999 12:00AM
Approx. 10 weeks ago I noticed I was having skipped heart beats. After wearing a Holter monitor my doctor told me I was having PVCs. 250 per hour sometimes 2-3 in a row. He put me on 100mg of Toprol, once a day. My thyroid function was below normal and I am also taking Synthroid. I had an echo done which showed everything is normal. I had a thallium stress test in which the treadmill part was fine but the thallium scan showed potential blockage. I had a cardiac catheterization which showed that there are no blockages or problems. I have no pain or other symptoms. I am 41.
Yet, even with the beta blocker, I still have PVCs, sometimes several in a row. Are there any other tests I should have to determine the cause of the PVCs or have all of the normal tests been completed? Should I be on a higher dose or different beta blocker?
Thank you very much for answering my question!

Dear Roy,

You have had a wonderful, complete work up for your symptoms.  I would not consider further test and would continue your beta blocker at the current dose.

Have faith in your physician.  they are doing all the right things.
