Asc. Aorta Aneurysm, valve preserving operation

I,m 33, good health other than an AAA with moderate reguritation with no symptoms.  Does anyone no if a valve preserving operation is a good option.  I've seen one study done by Yacoub et al, that looks really good.  Two surgeons have told me that this procedure doesn't work.  It appears to be a good option - if it works. any help on who does this and statistics would be appreciated.

Dear Todd,
I believe the article you are referring to is the following:
Pepper J.  Yacoub M. Valve conserving operation for aortic regurgitation.  Journal of Cardiac Surgery.  12(2 Suppl):151-6, 1997 Mar-Apr.
Essentially what this surgery involves is a detachment of the valve from the aorta and reattachment to a graft.  The benefit of the operation is the preservation of the native aortic valve. This type of operation is not commonly done but may be a good option for you depending on the particulars of your case.   In any case you would be wise to have the operation at a major medical center with experience with the operation.
If you would like to be seen here I would recommend Dr. Lytle as your surgeon.  His office can be reached at (216) 444-4470.
