I am 50 years old & was diagnosed 4 mos ago with a 4.1-4.5 ascending aortic aneurism by CT & TEE after having persistent chest/back pain, cough and hoarseness. Had a normal appearing aorta per CXR 6 mos before diagnosis. Have ruled out for Marfan's but have wound healing difficulties suggestive of Ehlers-Danlos. No family hx of aneurisms. Had rheumatic fever at age 13--now have mild mitral valve insufficiency. BP 130's/70's on Toprol, Diovan & HCTZ. Cholesterol & triglycerides slightly over 200--not being treated. Ht 66 inches, wt 125 lbs, good physical condition. Have been told by a cardiologist that I have no physical restrictions because of this condition, that I can continue to lift light weights (no definition of light) and to have a follow-up CT in 2 mos. I am somewhat concerned that I am being under-treated for this aneurism, and would appreciate hearing what your treatment suggestions would be if I were a pt at the Cleveland Clinic.
Sorry this is so lengthy. Thanks for your service.
