Ascending Thoracic Aorta

Hi, I have a question regarding where on the Aorta the following locations are.  
Proximal Ascending Aorta, Mid Ascending Aorta & Distal Ascending Aorta.  Is Proximal the same as the Aortic Root or right next to it?  Same as the Dista,l is that the same as the Arch or just right next to it?  I tried calling the Imaging Center and they had no answers for me.  Does anyone out there know?  Maybe my Aortic Root and my Arch were never measured.  Thanks

Thanks, that is a great site but I still can't figure out where the Proximal Ascending Aorta is.  Is it at the Sinotubular Junction or at the Aortic Root?

Another description: The aortic root is the portion of the ascending aorta beginning at the aortic annulus and extending to the sinotubular junction.

Proximal means closest - ascending means rising....the area of the aortic arch as it leaves the left ventricle.
