Aspirin at the termination of an afib episode effective?

Aspirin at the termination of an afib episode effective?

One of the afib internet boards recommends taking (chewing) a 325 mg. aspirin at the end of a bout when one naturally converts back to normal rhythm to help with any clotting.

But an opposing post replied, ... most dangerous time for throwing a clot due to afib is when you are converting back to normal sinus rhythm. The atria which has been failing in its normal duty finally kicks in and if a clot has formed say in the atrial appendage then it could be flushed out by the returned atrial kick. Point being that chewing an additional aspirin at that time seems pointless ...

Who is right and what would be your recommendation? Does chewing on an aspirin help at this point or not?

Many thanks!!!

I don't think it would help at that point at all because by then the clot has already formed.  Depending on the risk factors one should either be on a daily full dose ASA or if the risk is higher a daily coumadin with a goal INR of 2.0 - 3.0.
