Atenolol and alcohol.

Atenolol and alcohol.

Just a quick question for you.  I am a 30 year old male who experiences benign PVC's.  My doctor has put me on 25 mg Atenolol twice a day.  I excercise 6 days a week, do not use caffeine or suger and hardly ever drink.  I am getting married in a month and having a bachalor party in the near future.  My question is can you consume alcohol while taking Atenolol.  I am aware of the negetive effects of alcohol and PVC's but this would be a rare time.  I have heard a very mixed opinion from both doctors and pharmacy techs. concerning Atenolol and alcohol.  Any information on this would be much apprciated.  I would also like to thank you  for having this forum and being such an incredible help.

Dear Aaron,
I agree with Liz in general who posted an answer herself as a non-physician, and
that is that binge drinking is not a good idea regardless of being on a medication.
I get the feeling, Aaron that you want someone to just say it is o.k., well guess what
it is not ever o.k. to drink when you are on medication.  However, you can
look at it this way:  1)PVCs are not a life threatening condition in any way
shape or form, i.e. they are of no risk to your health. 2)if you really want to
drink safely at your bachelor party, don't take the medication for a couple of days
before and after the party (the drinking.)
Good Luck, and keep in mind that this forum is designed to provide medical information
only, not advice.  Actual treatments and diagnosis can only be made by your physician(s).
