Atenolol and effects

by K., Aug 26, 1999 12:00AM
I have a normal heart, but I suffer from PVCs and tachycardia. My doctor has just raised my atenolol to 150 mg. 100mg. in the morning and 50mg. at dinner time. The medicine has made me rather tired and has caused some sleep problems and strange dreams. However, I just started taking it and was wondering if my body will eventually adapt. Also, how can I exercise my heart on Atenolol? Thankyou.

Dear k,

Very often people will become accustomed to some of these side effects but often not.  There are many beta blockers available on the market, each with a slightly different side effect profile.  You may wish to discuss this with your physician.

Continue to exercise as normal, this will exercise your heart.
