Atenonol withdrawal

Atenonol withdrawal

I have been taking 50mg of atenonol for approx 10 yrs. (following a clash with Efexor anti depressant). I recently began to feel dizzy on standing and after meals. The dosage was reduced to 25mg and then stopped. I have monitored my own blood pressure which is varies between lower reading 60 to 70. Resting pulse rate approx 50 to 60. When I visit the Doctors pressure is around the 80 mark. I have since Jan this year been running / jogging a lot and am currently running about 15 to 16 (UK) miles a week. I am assuming that the decrease in Blood pressure is due to a higher level of fitness. Is it OK to carry on running at the present rate following the cessation of atenonol? Should my GP be looking for other underling causes of drops in blood pressure. Male aged 55. 12st in weight (168lbs) otherwise fit

Thanks in advance Chris

Chris,

Yes. While your blood pressure certainly runs on the lower side, there should be no reason you couldn't exercise if your physician is ok with you undertaking a physical activity program.

Some people have low resting blood pressure that increases with activtiy and exercise.  If you have no symptoms and your exam is normal, routine follow-up with your physician would be reasonable.

good luck

Thanks for the prompt reply.
There's 'no thanks' in 'no thanks' (you may have to be English to understand that)
