Atononol

I am currently on Atononol 50 mg and would like to go off the med.  How should I reduce the dose?  What side effects can I expect?

I agree totally with flycaster...what happens is if you suddenly stop taking antenolol or any beta blocker you can subject yourself to something that is called rebound meaning that whatever you were prescribed the med for will come back X3 and that can be ugly.  Again flycaster has it...your doc that gave you the meds will instruct you on how to properly wean yourself off of them.....you need to be sure that your doc is in agreement with your decision because you feel well now...due to the meds when you are no longer taking them you may not feel so hot...good luck....

You will want to ease off the drug, but you will want to take the advice of a health professional.  Atenolol is prescribed for a number of different conditions, none of those of us on this board can advise you.  Talk to your doctor, and if you aren't comfortable with the advise, get another opinion.

If you have recently started taking the drug, remember that it takes a few weeks for the body to adjust.  Also, beta blockers like atenolol have been lifesaving drugs.

Keep us informed.
