Atria premature Contractions Increase

I have been on toprol xl 100mg for about five years. In the past three weeks I have been having a big increase. My doctor gave me an echo test and a 24 hour Holter test which did indicate pacs. I am so worried can your heart all of the sudden get worse and start firing off more pacs? The Doctor also gave me a new drug to take called cozaar along with toprol. I even feel that sometimes it feels that it might be afib because heart wont stop skipping for about five minutes. Why all the sudden this new change? Thank god for xanax which calms me down. My heart likes to skip now in the morning and when i start  excersing and when i cool down.

I was sure others would write back by now. Those of us with PAC's and PVC's know that they come and go with no rhyme or reason. Sometimes they're triggered by something like stress, alcohol, cold meds, heat. Other times they just turn on. Some days I have just one or two a minute and they're barely noticeable. Other days they pound and thump like crazy. Can they change suddenly? Oh yes. One winter I was just fine with my little heart hiccups. Then one morning I woke up and they were thumping at 15-25 a minute non-stop. I didn't appreciate that at all. In my case it took 5 months for them to go back to normal; it was a very gradual process. That was a year ago and I'm just fine, back to my usual. Will it damage your heart? As they say - in a structurally normal heart PAC's and PVC's are pretty benign.
