Atrial Fib vs. PVCs

by Scot__0__0, Sep 02, 1998 12:00AM

How can someone who has both PVCs and atrial fib tell tell the difference between the two events? Are PVCs dangerous to someone with an cardiomyopathy due to excessive body weight?
  Thanks

Dear Scott
Not everyone with PVCs and atrial fibrillation can tell the difference. In fact some patients with afib and most with PVCs do not even know when they occur.
As far as whether PVCs are harmful, they are not. They can rarely signify serious underlying heart disease. More importantly, excessive body weight can be damaging to the heart.
I hope this is useful. Feel free to write back. I wish you the best of luck.
