Atrial Flutter/Rapid - Heart Beat

by cindy__0__0, Apr 02, 1999 12:00AM

I was diagnosed with an atrial flutter about ten years ago.  Over the last ten
years...when I am under stress...I have these 'attacks'...but for the last few
weeks, it seems I have had more periods of rapid heart beat...lasting for
longer periods of time.  I have an appointment next Wed. with my doctor, but
I am getting a little fearful that something is very wrong.  Please help.
  Thanks,
  cindy  :-)

Dear Cindy,
If you get short of breath, light-headed, dizzi, or chest discomfort with any of these episodes you really should go to the ER to have an ecg and an evaluation, i.e. not wait for the doctors' appointment.  Keep in mind that this is not a diagnosis or "opinion" type of forum, rather it is one for informational purposes only and therefore should never be used to make decisions regarding the triage of patients and their symptoms.
I hope this information is useful. Information provided in the heart forum is for
general purposes only.  Only your physician can provided specific diagnoses and therapies.
Feel free to write back with further questions. Good luck!
If you would like to make an appointment at the Cleveland Clinic Heart Center, please

cardiac problem.
