Atrial fib

Atrial fib

I'm 31 years old and I've been dx with a.fib. My first episode was when I was 30 and I had SVTs both time the only thing I did differently both times was work a 17 hour shift. First time my hr got into the 180s this time170s. I just recently found out my father died of a massive myocardial infarction at 41 years old this frightens me. My question is does my risks go up now because of him having died of a heart attack and that I have a.fib now?

A diagnosis of atrial fibrillation does not mean that you also have coronary artery disease (although many people with coronary artery disease also have atrial fibrillation).  If you have a family history of early coronary artery disease, it is important that you tell your cardiologist this in order to give you the best preventative treatment possible.  Specific answers to your questions would be best addressed by the cardiologist who manages your atrial fibrillation.  There are also preventative cardiology specialists who would work with you to decrease your risk as much as possible.
