Atrial or Ventricular

by lynda, Oct 25, 1999 12:00AM
Hi!!

I have been diagnosed with sinus tachycardia and PVC's, are not these two separate problems? One from the Atria and the other from the Ventricals?

What exactly is sinus tachycardia, I have learned a little about PVC's, but I seem to have a lot of the same symptoms as those of a-fib.

I am a 41 yr. old female, with a history of heart disease, I also have high cholesterol, which I am not taking anything. My Uncle was just diagnosed with dilated Cardiomyopathy, where I already have these heart problems am I at risk?

Thanks

Lynda

Dear Lynda,

No you are not at increased risk to develop cardiomyopathy if all you have is sinus tach and PVCs.  You are correct these are different and from different chambers.  You can find many detailed replies concerning both of these in the archives.
