BC-pill and MVP

  I have been diagnosed with MVP for four years now, a little leaky not much
  I'm very symptomatic with my MVP. My gyno has me starting low estrogen BC-pills
  and Iam worried about the pill causing problems with the MVP, especially
  since Iam 35yrs old.  Is the pill safe for me to take?

Dear Cynthia, thank you for your question.  Birth control pills should not affect MVP, but can increase the risk of venous thrombosis, especially in women who smoke concurrently.
