BP medication

Hi,
I have been taking Benicar hct for many years and have never had a problem with it.  But within the last week I have developed a tickling cough that stops me speaking until I get a drink.  I had this same cough when I first was diagnosed with high blood pressure and was prescribed another med.  I was then switched to Benicar/
My question is, can this symptom develop after so long of being on Benicar.

Not likely. The other medication you were on was likely to be an ace inhibitor, with which cough is a common complaint. Other causes of cough include asthma, bronchitis, GERD . Do you have any of these symptoms?
