Balloon Angioplasty
When a patient is undergoing a balloon angioplasty and stent placement, is it customary procedure to give a sedative or relaxant, such as Valium, in addition to local anesthetic at the sheath insertion site?  Is there any circumstance when giving this type of medication is contra-indicated?
