Bentall-DeBono procedure

I was wondering if you could provide information about the Bentall-DeBono procedure.  I have seen only limited references about this procedure to repair an ascending aorta and also replace the valve.

As much information about benefits/risks, etc. that you can provide is greatly appreciated.

From the website:
http://www.heart-surgeons.com/ascending1.htm

The Bentall-DeBono procedure is for the repair of an ascending aortic aneurysm or a type A aortic dissection, when accompanied by an incompetent, non-repairable aortic valve. The surgery consists of replacing the aorta and the aortic valve with a composite graft of woven Dacron attached to a mechanical valve.

Thanks in advance!

Dear David

The benefits of this sort of surgery are treatment of dissection or a large aneurysm, potentially life-threatening conditions. The major risks of the surgery (which is not easy surgery and requires some expertise) include death and stroke.

I hope this has been useful. I wish you the best of luck.
