Beta Blocker side effects and withdrawl(withdrawal)

Does anyone know if going from 5 mg of Bystolic to .75 mg of Bystolic over the course of a month would cause heart racing, breathing problems and chest discomfort?  My doc. said it was such a low dose, that if I didn't like it, I could just probably quit without worrying about side effects. I didn't want to chance it and have been cutting in 1/2 the dose every 7 days. I had an a few breathing episodes and a heart racing/flutter that sent me running to the ER last night. Nothing found...they said avoid caffine and I should stay on my Bystolic until my Doc tells me otherwises.

I agree that the bystolic should be keeping the arrhythmia in check, and you should stay on it until further instructions. There are other agents which are more  likely to control your heart rate better than bystolic, which also has blood pressure lowering effects, such as verapamil, diltiazem or metoprolol.
