Bi-atrial enlargement and hypertension treatments

My husband had a routine ecg whick showed P Mitrale, then an echocardiogram showing bi-atrial enlargement with trace mitral and tri-cuspid regurgitation. All else ok. His blood pressure is high - 150/90 most of time. Should he be on any medications to reduce BP/prevent worsening of enlargement. He is 50 yo and jogs 4x weekly. Should he be jogging? Thanks - worried wife.

Yes, indeed, high BP will aggravate the condtions that cause an enlarged left atrium.  Actually, jogging should help reduce blood pressure and condition the heart to pump stronger against the high resistance indicated by the high blood pressure.

Hope this helps, and if you have any further questions you are welcome to respond.  Thanks for the question, take care.
