Bicuspid Valve and Mild Aortic Aneurysm

Bicuspid Valve and Mild Aortic Aneurysm

I am a 63 year old Caucasian female of average weight, height, and experiencing otherwise good health.  I have been recently diagnosed with a bicuspid aortic valve having severe aortic stenosis. In addition, a CT scan revealed a 4.4mm AA aneurysm.  I have had a consultation with a Dallas cardio-thoracic surgeon who presented me with the various options for aortic valve replacement. Furthermore, he recommended that the AA be re-sected and replaced with a Dacron tube (since he was already in the area) during the surgery.
I've since had a second opinion from another prominent cardio-thoracic surgeon in Houston, who emphatically questioned the need for the AA re-section.
I have read studies whereby some concluded that, YES, it is a good policy to remove the aneurysm during the initial surgery to prevent potential long term effects, while other reports conclude, NO, that the long term effects do not demonstrate the effectiveness of the AA re-section.
Being one who generally believes in the axiom: "if it ain't broke; don't fix it", as well as believing an ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure. I am now left in a quandary.  Any comments; suggestions, or recommendations would be greatly appreciated and valued.  Thanks in advance.
