Bicuspid Valve

my son  has a bicuspid valve, he has know about it since 2001-we recently went for his check up and they detected more blood flow going back out of the valve and part of  another value was inlarged some.  They said he is not restricted now of weight lifting but in a couple of years that might change- why is that and is it not dangerous to play other sports like baseball an or basketball?

The impact of a bicuspid aortic valve significantly varies from patient to patient. . Typically bicuspid aortic valve symptoms peak around the fourth decade of life. Aortic valve leakage (called aortic regurgitation or aortic insufficiency) is less common during early childhood but can also develop over time.  

Sometimes there is aorta aneursym associated with a bicuspid valve that may develop later, and the redstrictions would be appropriate at that time if the aorta enlarges or regurgitation increases.

I have have biscuspid Aortic valve My heart doctoer said to me that. Just to take it easy and dont over do the vigous exercise. With me I found that the heart valve tells you when you do much. I was told last year I had biscuspid Aortic valve. I have have found seince I am getting older. I can ride my bike long distance or go swimming any more. I get slighty out of breath if I excert myself to much.I am 50 in October.
Word of warning If your son has any dental treament or sugury of any any kind or any medcial prodcrure that makes thing bleed Please tell the dentst sugeon doctor your son as an biscuspid Aotic heart valve .Has he will need to take anitbotics before any dental work surgury ect.Biscuspid Aortic heart are prone to infections Endocardias .
