Blood Clots after heart surgery

by jones41, Jan 05, 2008 08:23PM
Hi, my dad had triple bypass surgery on Dec. 7th, he was 90% blocked on his left main artery.  He was released a week later.  He just went back in 3 days ago with severe back pain and it was discovered that one of his grafted veins had formed a clot.  He is being treated medically for this clot and it is not showing signs of breaking up.  They now want to put stents into his natural vein and one in the other side which is 60-70% blocked.  They will just leave the clot there.  The doctor only prescribed a small dose of aspirin and he was not given a prescription blood thinner.  My question is:  What type of blood thinner should he have been on? and, Is there any other alternative to stenting the veins other than another surgery?   Also, should that blood clot be left alone?  Couldn't it break up in the future?  Thank you so much for your time

If you send me your email address I will send you some PDF files about blood clots
I had a mass removed from my brain and about two to three weeks later
I had three clots in my left lung and one in my right lung.
you can't place an email address on this page so this is how to send it.
