Blood pressure and MVP

by allan, Oct 17, 1999 12:00AM
I have noticed that as my MVP has worsened that my bp is going up, is this just age or will this occure because of the valve regurgetation worsening.  If you think it is affected by the valve will it go down with valve repair?  My bp use to be about 68/90 now it runs usually 86/130.  Thanks again for being there.

Dear Allan,

You BP may be increasing due to age or an increase in weight.  This will potentially worsen your symptoms from MVP and your blood pressure should be controlled.  Fixing the MVP will not decrease your BP.
