Many young persons develop high blood pressure. Especially if their parents have it.
Hbp is more common for some ethnic background: African Americans, natives.
Stay calm as much you can, don’t worry much, stress control is important , exercise regularly ,yoga breathing is gold for me, try low sodium diet. Keep it under 2000 mg/day.
If you can manage do not use salt at all. Never eat chips end other junks. Be very careful with MSG…other hiding sodium in prepared food. ALSO try to eat food recommended for lowering Hbp like garlic wide garlic ,lots of rice….etc…calculate the sodium in every bite you eat….
Important to keep Hbp within normal range, so you will avoid long term effects of Hbp like heart and brain problems, but do not freak out if once a while the numbers are higher, you are on medication, that’s good, it will go down very soon if you have it high some reason ocasionally
vienna13 has some good info listed - the key is to be extra calm and relaxed if you can. yoga helps
and breathing helps also deep breaths. Eatting right also will bring b.p down ( no junk foods) more less eat blan foods that are healthy. watch the salt intake - you might a power drink called Natural Calm - this works wonders for stress and stopping pannic attacks and claming one down.
You also can ask a few Natural store people, about diffrent Natural herbs and meds you can take. to control and lower b.p down. that wont effect having a baby.
If you can control your b.p without chemical medications - you have it made !
otherwise expect having somekind of side effects, from chemical man made medications.
as some are very harsh to take ! and cause more harm than good.
Get yourself a home monitor and take your BP every day for about two weeks. Write down the BP # every time you take it. However, if you are under a lot of emotional stress or are afraid of what your number will be that alone can raise your BP.
I started out having occasional BP spikes when I was 18 yrs old. My doctor was not concerned and brushed it off as "its your nerves, as soon as you walk out of here you will be o.k.". I always eat healthy and exercised. Over the yrs my BP number creeped up slowly. I hardly ever eat chips, junk food, or stuff with lots of salt in it. Both of my parents had high BP, and my grandma had severe high BP. Its in my genes, just like the high cholesterol is in my genes, and all the healthy lifestyle as in dieting and exercise will not bring it down.
If you should go on BP meds eventually don't freak out. I've been on it for the last 4 yrs and I feel great, energy and everything, NO side effects. If there are side effects they can switch you to something else, there are tons of BP meds out there. My husband was switched two times, and now feels great with the BP meds he is on now, and he is on them for the last 6 yrs, he even drinks alcohol with it, matter of fact he washes his BP pills down with beer, and still no side effects at all, and his BP is great, and he feels great.
We both get blood tests (CBC) done, me every 4 - 6 months because of the Zocor I am on, and I get a liver enzyme check on top of the CBC. My husband gets a blood test (CBC) once a year, and both our blood tests are excellent. Our doctor says every time "you must be doing something right".
thanks so much all of you. I feel much better after reading your replies. My parent's both have High BP, but they developed it at 40 yrs not at a young age. I am of Indian origin and I am a vegetarian, I don't take junk food at all for my age ( my husband makes fun of me that way ) and don't drink/smoke either. That's why I was concerned as to why I got this in the first place.
The doctor first put me on a diuretic( for a month) , my body could not tolerate it I shed some 7 pounds and became extremely weak. So she changed me to this beta blocker. I am taking it for 3 weeks now, I don't see any side effects but sometimes I do have palpitations ( my pulse rate increases to 105) even when I am not doing anything. I try to work out everyday for 20 mins along with keeping my sodium intake <1500mg.
So when it comes to a natural cure, when do you think I can stop taking meds and start controlling it with diet or excercise? Thanks so much again, I truly appreciate your help.
If you have not already tell your doctor about your side effects that you think the palpitations come from the beta blockers.
Despite what we hear and read BP meds are not always taken for life. I know a 34 yr old woman who was put on BP meds for only two months and then her doctor took her off. She is still off today. Another woman was put on BP meds because her bottom number stayed above 100, and she was taken off in less than a year, I think it was 6 months.
thanks so much Barbella, I will talk to my doctor about it. The answer you have given about the duration sounds promising!. The doctor has asked me to also take a test to eliminate pheochromocytoma , hope that turns out negative.

I can’t see why you shouldn’t have a baby.
Good luck, many of us living with it well.
