Blood pressure lower on non-exercise days

by Tom404, Nov 09, 2009 03:44PM
My wife, 47, non-smoker, 20 pounds overweight, casual drinker, heart disease in the family.  On high BP medication.

Exercises three days per week in a Spin class.  On the Spin class days, her BP is up much of the day along with her pulse (138/83, 80).  On non-exercise days its more normal (128/78, 70).  She's been spinning for years, trying to lose the same 20 pounds for years.

Why would her BP and pulse be higher many hours after exercise?

that's how it is for me, too. I'd expect it's because the system is carrying away byproducts like lactic acid, and bringing in oxygen and replacement glucose, etc, for quite a while afterward

for me it's usually more elevated pulse than BP, though
