Blood pressure

by pinkbaby, Jul 04, 2009 08:53AM
Hey,
My bp has been rather  lower for most of my life. Though my mom has hypertension and have to take meds for rest of her life. Im 24 y old female.
My bp used to be lower when monitored on  the left hand and higer on the right hand.. But now my bp is lower on the right hand. is this normal?
Yesterday my bp was 89\62, pulse 70 on the right hand. On the left hand it was 94\59 ,pulse 60.
My moms doctor said if a person is right handed then oen should be monitor bp on the left hand. I wonder why.

Left and right are a little different.  My nurse said to monitor only on arm for all three readings done daily.  You have excellent blood pressure.  Watch for when you are in your late 40's to early 50's.  This is when cholesterol and blood pressure can increase fast.  Hormones help protect women at young ages.
