Blood rushing to the Head Feeling

who is 13 years old, and has been diagnosed with severe asthma, has been having these "blood rushing" episodes on and off for a few years. She explains that it feels like she is standing on her head and all of the blood rushes to her head and feels like she could pass out, but doenst, but its really discomforting to her, and SCARY. The last time she had it about 3 years ago the doctor said it was a "virus" maybe vertigo? and that it should go away on its own in a few weeks. well, it did but now its back again, and im waiting to go to the doctors at 4pm today to see her doctor. She is just getting over an ear infection this past week, but the last time she had these episodes she did not have any ear problems. She also has been experiencing some pain and soreness in her rib cage area on both sides. The last time about a year ago she had the rib cage pain, the doctor said she pulled a muscle or strained it, etc. but now thats coming back again too, and her doctor ordered an xray and an ekg that came back normal. Her asthma seems to be not getting under control so we have an appt next week with a pulmonologist. When she was about a year old she was diagnosed with Patent Foramen Ovale, which was really minor they said, and that it would close as she grew. Her doctor is confidant that this isnt related. She also had tubes in her ears when she was 2. Maybe it is the fluid in the ears? Even though she didnt have any ear problems the first time she these episodes?? Im not convinced that its her ears, even though it sounds like it..i just feel like maybe the rib cage issues and this intertwine? I dont know and Im getting anxious to help her....I was led here by a link when I googled the "head rush feeling" and found a posting on this site, thats how I got here, and the girl that posted her symptoms had the rib cage soreness too, but no reply was given to her posts but mine asking her if she had ever been diagnosed. so I am curious about that too..thanks for any help anyone?

This is also happening to me too, yesterday at my schools track meet, i ran the 1000 meter run and straight after i crossed the finish line it felt like my head was going to explode, and my eyes were going to pop out of my head. Shortly after finishing the race i looked in a mirror and my eyes were extremely red and blood shot. I hit my head twice in the past 2 months and have also been experiencing my ribs hurting too. My dance teacher also said i might have pulled the muscles around my ribs but it felt worse then just a pulled muscle. I am very scared, and I am only 14 years old. I have had a headache ever since i hit my head last, about a week and a half ago and when i hit my head the first time it was against a cement wall and i had cracked a few ribs but the doctors said my head was fine even without doing any tests. My mom thinks im fine but my sister thinks there is blood in my brain, she is 18 years old. I am very scared. Does someone know any thing about this?

I Can't believe no one has commented. I am 32 years old (female) and also have a PFO and had the closure done back in October (09) and have the same feelings of standing on my head and blood rushing to head, also my eyes swell up and my lips and face look swollen. I also will feel light headed and dizzy and foggy headed. I am also desperate to know why this happens and am not sure where to start. Have you had any luck with your daughter?
