Bradycardia § chest pain

by papaley, Sep 02, 2001 12:00AM
I am a 49 y/o woman with MS and AI.  Lately I have experienced mild chest pain with dizziness.  At these times my h/r has been at about 47-50bpm. I also have low BP and times where my heart beats very fast and out of rhythm. Can slow heart rate cause chest pain? Also, in the evenings after a meal BP is low 88/50 and HR 45???
Thank you.

Dear papaley,
I am going to assume by MS you mean mitral stenosis and not multiple sclerosis and by AI you mean aortic insufficiency (and not artificial intelligence:). It is possible that you are having some episodes of atrial fibrillation with the valvular problems.  You should ask your doctor about getting a Holter monitor test.  Slow heart rate does not generally cause chest pain although it may cause dizziness and low blood pressure.  Again a Holter monitor will help with this diagnosis.
